It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Artesia Pioneers had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Cougars a 2-0 shutout. Two seems to be a good number for Artesia as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.
Artesia is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2-3 record this season. As for Norco, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8-4 record this season.
Artesia will square off against Foothill at TBD on Friday. Artesia's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Foothill's offense will have their work cut out for them. Norco does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
