Salesian College Preparatory has gone a perfect 10-0 against Saint Mary recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Pride will host the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Salesian College Preparatory will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Salesian College Preparatory came out on top against St. Joseph Notre Dame two weeks ago thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Pride took their game against the Pilots 8-3. The game was the first time the Pride have beaten the Pilots on their field since April 22, 2015.
DeAmor Coleman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Coleman was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Gloria Alcaire was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mia Villanueva, who earned three runs and one stolen base.
Salesian College Preparatory kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Saint Mary's and Pinole Valley had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers lost 10-4 to the Spartans on Monday.
Sophia Detwiler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Salesian College Preparatory's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Mary's, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
Saint Mary's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Salesian College Preparatory has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Saint Mary's, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Salesian College Preparatory keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Everything went Salesian College Preparatory's way against Saint Mary's when the teams last played back in March, as Salesian College Preparatory made off with a 16-2 win. Will the Pride repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
