If the Newark Academy Minutemen were expecting to get some payback for the 55-38 loss against the Nutley Maroon Raiders when they previously met last month, then they were left disappointed. Newark Academy was just a three-ball short of a win on Tuesday and fell 68-66 to Nutley.
The Minutemen's defeat pushed them down to 6-9. The victory bumped Nutley's record up to 13-2.
The Minutemen will take on Columbia next week. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Newark Academy, but that can only make success all the sweeter. Nutley is staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Columbia. The Maroon Raiders won't have the home-court advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
