Central is 1-9 against East since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Central Indians will head out on the road to square off against the East Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Last Friday, Central faced Laramie in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Central took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Laramie. Central's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
The losing side was boosted by Karson Tempel, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Taylin Wade, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, East can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 60-20 win over South at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win East has posted since December 7, 2023.
Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for East, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Central came up short against East in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 77-67. Can Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
