The Daingerfield Tigers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Newton with a sharp 42-21 victory on Friday. Considering Daingerfield has won ten matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 45 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 212 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes. Another player making a difference was Ashton Williams, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
The win was the fourth in a row for Daingerfield, bringing their record for this year to 11-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.8 points per game. As for Newton, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1.
Daingerfield will face off against Tidehaven at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tidehaven has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 376 points over their last eight contests. Newton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
