Softball Recap: Shepherd Wins Going Away Against Tarkington

Shepherd had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Tarkington on Tuesday. The Shepherd Pirates blew past the Tarkington Longhorns 20-5. Considering the Pirates have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabelle Hooper made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Neveah Murphey was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Skyleigh Lagow was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Shepherd's record now sits at 18-4. As for Tarkington, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Coincidentally, Shepherd and Tarkington will both be playing Hamshire-Fannett the next time they take the field. Shepherd will head out to face Hamshire-Fannett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Tarkington will host them at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th.
