Chaparral is 0-3 against Centennial since September of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Pumas will challenge the Huskies at 7:30 p.m. Chaparral will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
On Thursday, Chaparral humbled Roosevelt with a 61-23 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-10.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chaparral to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dane Weber, who threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 72 yards and one score. Weber is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another rusher making a difference was Trevor Schneider, who gained 112 total yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Chaparral was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Chaparral didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Eli Woodard and Michael ( Kiko ) Farinas.
Meanwhile, Centennial entered their tilt with Norco on Thursday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They walked away with a 59-49 win over the Cougars. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Cougars are ranked 48th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chaparral better keep an eye on Dominick Catalano. He was instrumental in Centennial's win, rushing for 55 yards and a pair of TDs, while also throwing for 239 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. That's the most passing yards Catalano has posted since back in August.
Centennial's record is now 8-1. As for Chaparral, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The upcoming game will be a clash of competing strengths. Chaparral has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 317.1 passing yards per game. Centennial, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 242.4 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Thursday? There's only one way to find out.
Chaparral took a serious blow against Centennial in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 54-12. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Catalano, who threw for 354 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Now that the Pumas know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
