The Southampton Academy Raiders will square off against the TEACH Homeschool Beach Breakers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southampton Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
TEACH Homeschool will be up against a hot Southampton Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Raiders' way against Fuqua on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-4 win. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 2, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Landon Cushing made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Southampton Academy let Ethan Webb and Ayden Darden run wild. Webb got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Darden got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Webb has become a key player for Southampton Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Jarratt, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Southampton Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fuqua only posted an OBP of .318.
Meanwhile, TEACH Homeschool gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Norfolk Christian by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory continues a trend for the Beach Breakers in their matchups with the Ambassadors: they've now won five in a row.
Thomas Bianco was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Aiden Arbogast was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Southampton Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for TEACH Homeschool, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
TEACH Homeschool's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Southampton Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. It's a different story for TEACH Homeschool, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Southampton Academy's hitters?
