Softball Recap: Orleans Has No Trouble Against Mitchell

Orleans had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Mitchell on Wednesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Bluejackets 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ava Cooper made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Izzie Rutherford was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Cordelia Robbins, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Orleans' record now sits at 13-3. As for Mitchell, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Orleans will square off against Crawford County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolfpack will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Mitchell, they will challenge South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
