5A Region I District 3 recap November 5, 2013
Arlington scaled the state rankings by moving to 115 from 152 this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region I District 3. The Colts were able to move up by besting Bowie 24-21.
Arlington added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Volunteers, 24-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Eric Walker threw for 137 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Kris Barnes provided a threat through the air and on the ground as North Crowley lost to Paschal.
Walker put up the best numbers in passing as Martin topped Houston. Walker's favorite target this week was Michael Wilson, who caught 3 passes for 39 yards.
On the heels of Walker and Nic Smith, the Warriors have had great success on offense. Walker leads the league in passing with 1,475 yards, while Smith has rushed for 905 yards this season. The Colts' Mason Shaw leads the league in receiving yards with 521 on 40 catches.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Martin takes on Bowie. Bob Wager's team's offense has racked up 334 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Danny DeArman's team has allowed only 159 on the year.
The Warriors' Smith is a mere 95 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Smith has rushed for 905 yards on 161 carries so far this year.
An important game coming up in 5A Region I District 3 this week will be when Martin takes on Bowie. The Warriors are in first place, while the Volunteers are in third place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Martin takes on Bowie. The Warriors have allowed 182 points this season, while the Volunteers have given up 159. Martin allowed 13 points last week as it beat the Texans.
The Warriors took down Houston 52-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Walker ran for 32 yards in the win.
