After a string of eight wins, the Providence Pioneers's good fortune finally ran out  on Friday. They fell just short of Charlestown by a score of  48-45. The  defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Providence in their matchups with Charlestown: they've now lost eight in a row.
 Providence's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Addison Smith, who  scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Livy Theobald, who  scored eight points along with six  rebounds.
 Providence's loss  ended a three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 12-7. As for Charlestown, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won five of their last six games,  which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Providence won't have much time to rest: their next  matchup is against Henryville at 2:30  p.m.  on January 13th. As for Charlestown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Oldham at 7:30  p.m.  on Monday.
