Kaysen Wildman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Andrew Cote was excellent, earning one RBI, three runs, and two stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Chase Nash also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Skowhegan fell victim to Lewiston and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 8-0 to the Blue Devils. The River Hawks haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Skowhegan also got a good showing from Miller Foss, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.
Hampden's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Skowhegan, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Hampden's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Broncos have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Skowhegan, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Hampden continue to outrun the ball?
Hampden might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Skowhegan in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Broncos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
