The Valley View Eagles will face off against the Indio Rajahs at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley View will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
If Valley View beats Indio with seven runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Eagles beat Chino on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-1. Considering the Eagles have won four games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Bella Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hailey Ramirez was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Torres, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Valley View lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Liberty hit Indio with a five-run sixth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rajahs lost 13-1 to the Bison.
Jaeda Diaz made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Indio's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Valley View, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Indio's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Valley View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Indio, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Valley View keep running through batters, or will the Rajahs buck the trend?
Valley View got the 'W' when the teams last played on Wednesday against Indio by a conclusive 13-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rajahs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
