The Elkton Golden Elks fought the good fight in their overtime game against the North Harford Hawks on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 37-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. Elkton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North Harford apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.
Elkton's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dj Piner, who picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Josh Brill was in the mix as well, providing Elkton with two touchdowns.
Kent Holcombe was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Harold Davis iii was another key contributor, gaining 71 total yards and two touchdowns.
North Harford's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Jason McCallister and his two sacks.
Elkton has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for North Harford, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Elkton will stay at home for another week and welcome Chesapeake at 6:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Chesapeake comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for North Harford, they will head out on the road to face off against Hereford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
