Washington (Okla.) grabbed the lead when it ran for a touchdown with 11:00 remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to beat
Hinton (Okla.) 41-21 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured five lead swaps.
After taking the lead on a
Jacob Spady touchdown run, the Comets went into halftime with a 21-20 lead. The Warriors scored the winning points with a rushing touchdown that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Washington still trailed by 1 point going into the fourth quarter. But 21 points in the fourth helped WHS pull out the victory.
Hinton's Spady played well. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.
HHS came in allowing just 13.4 points per game this season.
The loss comes after Hinton defeated Riverside Indian 47-14 last week.
Hinton (5-1) will play a 2A District 3 game against Frederick next week, while Washington (3-3) will take on Comanche also in a 2A District 3 game.
