The Mohave Thunderbirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. The matchup between Mohave and Coconino wasn't particularly close, with Mohave falling 49-33. While losing is never fun, Mohave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Coconino is ranked 109th).
It was another big night for Aviana Scharfenberger, who scored 20 points for Coconino. Another player making a difference was Autumn Larsen, who scored five points along with ten rebounds.
Mohave has been struggling recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Coconino, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-11.
Mohave won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mingus at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Coconino, they will be playing at home against Flagstaff at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flagstaff is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
