The Conneaut Spartans lost against the Madison Blue Streaks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Conneaut's rough 55-32 defeat to the Blue Streaks might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Conneaut can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while the Blue Streaks are ranked 150th).
Despite the loss, Conneaut still got an impressive performance from Finley Evans, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Evans scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Kiser, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Conneaut and nudges their season record down to 8-11. As for Madison, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conneaut will play host again and welcome the Fighting Herald, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. John knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the Spartans like a good challenge. As for Madison, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Warriors at 6:15 p.m. Edgewood is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
