Basketball Recap: Hi-Plains Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Dylon Mccaffrey and Aiden Cordell

Hi-Plains was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 63-37 to the Cheylin Cougars. The Patriots were down 50-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Hi-Plains' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aiden Cordell, who posted 21 points, and Dylon McCaffrey, who earned four points and five steals. Those four points gave McCaffrey a new career-high.

Kohen Pochop was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds for Cheylin. Pochop has become a key player for Cheylin: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight boards, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Schoenberger, who put up 11 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Hi-Plains' loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Cheylin, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5.

Hi-Plains will venture away from home to square off against Kit Carson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cheylin, they will welcome Brewster at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
