Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wantagh walked away with it. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Island Trees Bulldogs on Monday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Gavin Diegnan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Diegnan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Spinelli, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Ryan Conigliaro was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Wantagh's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Island Trees, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.

Wantagh will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
