The Ingleside Mustangs will face off against the Zapata Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ingleside took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Calhoun, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Sandcrabs 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Marcus Barron made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Barron wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jason Salaiz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Salaiz a new career-high.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Zapata, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against King on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-1 victory. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Brahmas recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Like Ingleside, Zapata also got a great game from a two-way player: Lauro Guerra. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over 6.2 innings pitched. Guerra was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Ram Garcilazo and Mario Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Garcilazo went 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs, while Garcia got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those triples marked the first that Garcilazo has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jay Solis, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
The victory got Zapata back to even at 8-8. As for Ingleside, the win got them back to even at 10-10-1.
Ingleside suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Zapata in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
