After flying high against the Unity Reed Lions last Friday, the Patriot Pioneers came back down to earth. Patriot was outmatched by Osbourn Park at home and fell 71-19. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Patriot has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Patriot lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Ella Negron. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. The match was Negron's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Patriot struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Patriot has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Osbourn Park, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patriot will play host again and welcome Gainesville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Osbourn Park, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. Freedom will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Osbourn Park is ranked 16th).
