Arbor View and Shadow Ridge are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Aggies will welcome the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Arbor View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Arbor View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Bishop Gorman, who was ranked 13th at the time (Arbor View was ranked eighth). The Aggies narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Gaels 7-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Aggies, who have now won three matches in a row.
Ava Henderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Madilyn Lowy and Breya Hee did most of the damage at the plate: Lowy went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Hee went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Malaya Tellis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge was not the first on the board last Thursday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Liberty by a score of 9-5.
Shadow Ridge also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Katelynn Quidato gave up just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits. Quidato has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Madison Foster was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rosely Hensley-Mokiao, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.
Shadow Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Arbor View's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Shadow Ridge, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.
Shadow Ridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arbor View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Shadow Ridge, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Arbor View's sizable advantage in that area, the Mustangs will need to find a way to close that gap.
