Joe Menzel and Alex Garlets provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Lathrop. The connection was good for 86 yards, the longest such play in Valley Oak this season.
Oakdale extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Weston Ranch, 64-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Mustangs.
Manteca's dynamic duo of Menzel and Garlets proved tough for the Spartans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Menzel threw for 138 yards and three touchdowns and Garlets had 86 yards receiving. TJ Galdos helped Manteca's passing attack out by catching five balls for 63 yards.
Daniel Clemons made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Buffaloes beat Lathrop. The 5-foot-9 senior grabbed one sack.
Evan Owens was the most productive running back in the league this week. In six carries, he ran for 162 yards as Kimball topped Jesse Rodriguez's team. Zack Johnson also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.
Thanks to the talents of Jake Pruitt and Anthony Cota Sierra has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Pruitt leads the league in passing with 698 yards, while Cota has rushed for 1186 yards this season. Eric Reis' team's Galdos leads the league in receiving yards with 441 on 37 catches.
Eddie Smith of the the Buffaloes is only 31 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 150 carries Smith has accumulated 969 yard this year.
A big matchup in Valley Oak this week will be when Manteca takes on Trent Merzon's team. The Buffaloes are in third place, while the Mustangs are in second place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Manteca takes on Oakdale. The Buffaloes have allowed 185 points this season, while the Mustangs have given up 82. Manteca allowed 0 points last week as it bested the Spartans.
The Timberwolves and Sonora played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Timberwolves eventually emerging with a 45-42 victory. Guillermo Nunez in the win.
