The Notre Dame Titans will head out on the road to challenge the Oxford Academy Patriots at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Notre Dame turned things around against Entrepreneur on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Bulls as they made off with a 14-3 victory. With that win, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Mikey Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Rodriguez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Notre Dame got a massive performance out of Teresa Avila, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Jio Sandoval also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Notre Dame always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, while Oxford Academy put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Samueli Academy. Oxford Academy was the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Samueli Academy. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Firewolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Like Notre Dame, Oxford Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Mia Sierra. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sierra was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Shay Tiettmeyer was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Xiomara Martinez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Oxford Academy's record is now 10-2. As for Notre Dame, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Notre Dame has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Oxford Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .519. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Notre Dame might still be hurting after the 19-4 loss they got from Oxford Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Notre Dame avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
