2A-1 Region I District 4 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Eastland extended the longest winning streak in 2A-1 Region I District 4 this week by beating Clyde, 32-22. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Comanche moved up to 801 from 827 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Indians climbed the ranks as a result of beating Jim Ned 28-24.
The Indians' dynamic duo of Brennan Harris and Tanner Locklear proved tough for Comanche to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Harris threw for 173 yards and Locklear had 91 yards receiving. Austin Mays helped Jim Ned's passing attack out by catching five balls for 67 yards.
Ty Spears was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 24 carries, he ran for 131 yards as the Bulldogs lost to Stephen Hermesmeyer's team. Teammate Jon Seabourn added to the ground attack by rushing for 41 yards.
Clyde's Clint Lesley and Seabourn have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A-1 Region I District 4 in both passing and receiving yards. Lesley has thrown for 1711 yards this season, while Seabourn, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has 45 catches for 695 yards. Brandon Allen from Eastland leads the league in rushing with 1007 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Merkel takes on Dublin. At the moment, the Badgers are in second, while the Lions are in sixth.
The Indians and Jeff Williamson's team played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Indians eventually emerging with a 28-24 victory.
