Sanger has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Clovis East Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sanger had no problem doing just that on Friday. They really took it to Garces Memorial for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-0 win at home. Sanger pushed the score to 21-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Garces Memorial had little chance of recovering from.
Israel Robles was his usual excellent self, rushing for 173 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Robles was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Marquis Cropper made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Even though Clovis East has not done well against Buchanan recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. Clovis East put the hurt on Buchanan with a sharp 48-24 victory. Given Clovis East's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Buchanan is ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Tyus Miller, who threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Miller is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Tyrone Bishop was another key contributor, rushing for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.

We should be in store for an exciting game Thursday as Sanger and Clovis East have no problem gaining yardage. Sanger has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 373 total yards per game. However, it's not like Clovis East struggles in that department as they've been even better at 480.3 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more football content.
Sanger suffered a grim 42-21 defeat to Clovis East when the teams last played back in August. Can Sanger avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
