Gateway Christian extended their postseason success on Friday against Mountainair. They breezed by the Mustangs on the road to the tune of 66-38. Fans of Gateway Christian have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Meanwhile, Roy/Mosquero faced Grady in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Roy/Mosquero walked away with a 27-20 win over Grady on Friday.
Roy/Mosquero's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ayden Clavel led the charge by rushing for 95 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Brycen Barnes was in the mix as well, providing Roy/Mosquero with two touchdowns.
Gateway Christian's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Roy/Mosquero, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
