If The Fannin County Rebels were riding high off their 42-14 takedown of the Murray County Indians last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fannin County was beaten by Rockmart 48-14 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Fannin County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Rockmart is ranked 103rd).
Lawson Sullivan and Brayden Taylor certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Sullivan rushed for 11 yards and a touchdown, while Taylor picked up 67 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Rockmart was led to victory by Tristan Anderson and Calliyon Thompson. Anderson picked up 155 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Thompson threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes. Anderson was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 64 yards. Rockmart also got a significant boost from Brent Washington, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.
Fannin County now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Rockmart, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Fannin County will head out on the road to face off against Haralson County at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Haralson County is on a four-game streak of home losses, Fannin County a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Rockmart will take on North Murray at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. North Murray will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
