Avah Oertel was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Princeton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are 11-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Kewanee's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against Rockridge, falling 12-5.
Evelyn Schiltz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Macee Pickering, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Kewanee's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Princeton, their record now sits at 13-5.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Princeton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Kewanee struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Princeton couldn't quite finish off Kewanee in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 5-3. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
