Winner is 7-2 against Platte/Geddes since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Winner Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Platte/Geddes Black Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Winner is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Winner scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took down McLaughlin 65-47.
Shawn Hammerbeck and Aiden Barfuss were among the main playmakers for Winner as the former dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds and the latter scored 18 points along with seven assists. Barfuss hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Craven, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Platte/Geddes ended up a good deal behind Bridgewater/Emery on Saturday and lost 64-50.
Winner's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Platte/Geddes, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.
Winner came out on top in a nail-biter against Platte/Geddes in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 62-59. The rematch might be a little tougher for Winner since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
