The Shawnee Indians will take on the Crestview Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Shawnee barely beat Fort Recovery the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Shawnee put the hurt on Fort Recovery with a sharp 15-3 win on Saturday. Shawnee might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Anna Menke, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Taylor Lichty, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Shawnee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Crestview, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Antwerp last Saturday. The Knights not only won last Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 28, 2025 (when they won 18-8).
Alli Thatcher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Kaylee Owens and Violet Dirr did most of the damage at the plate: Owens went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI, while Dirr went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Dakota Thornell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Shawnee pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Crestview, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Shawnee was able to grind out a solid win over Crestview when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 17-14. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
