Gallia Academy has gone 7-1 against South Point recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will square off against the Pointers at 5:30 p.m. Gallia Academy has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Gallia Academy will head out to face South Point after giving up their first home loss of the season on Monday. The Blue Devils took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dawson-Bryant.
Chloe Bennett was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Maggie Davis made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Ava Angel was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
South Point never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Chesapeake on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 12-0 shutout. The Pointers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Like Gallia Academy, South Point also got a great game from a two-way player: Kota Copley. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Copley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, South Point got a massive performance out of Kaylee Stidham, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Raygen Yates also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
South Point hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chesapeake struck out 12 times.
South Point pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gallia Academy, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Gallia Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like South Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Gallia Academy suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to South Point in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
