Kalskag's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Aniak, falling 97-15. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Kalskag in their matchups with Aniak: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Cook Inlet Academy waltzed into their match on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They blew past Tanalian 82-17 on the road. That looming 82-17 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Cook Inlet Academy yet this season.
Cook Inlet Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alek McGarry, who scored 20 points. Ian McGarry was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Kalskag's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-1. As for Cook Inlet Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Kalskag took their victory against Cook Inlet Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2019 by a conclusive 48-22. With Kalskag ahead 28-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
