The Florence Huskies will head out on the road to square off against the Rocky Ford Meloneers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Florence will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
While Florence didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-19-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Sierra on Saturday as Florence made off with a 17-7 victory. Fans of the Huskies have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Finn Phillips made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Phillips was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Phillips is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Florence got a massive performance out of Moses Behnam, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Ayden Jennings was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Florence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .517. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Rocky Ford fell victim to Rye and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Thunderbolts, falling 12-0. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Rocky Ford dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Florence, their record now sits at 5-0.
Rocky Ford's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Florence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .488. It's a different story for Rocky Ford, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Florence's hitters?
Florence might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Rocky Ford when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Florence avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
