The biggest upset of the week belonged to Valley, who took down 10th ranked Atrisco Heritage Academy, 31-28. Robert Armijo ran for 93 yards and caught three passes for 44 yards in the win.
West Mesa's Gary Thibeaux rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A District 5 this season in his game against Rio Grande last week. Thibeaux's team bested the Ravens as he sprinted for 93 yards on the play and finished with 142 in all.
The Vikings' dynamic duo of Bo Coleman and Dominic Gonzales proved tough for the Jaguars to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Coleman threw for 142 yards and Gonzales had 54 yards receiving.
6-foot-0 quarterback Coleman of Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1169. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. On the ground, Atrisco Heritage Academy's Nathaniel Goode has rushed for 634 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Romolo Salazar. The West Mesa star has 37 catches for 451 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Rio Grande takes on Patrick Johnson's team. Jim Danner's team is currently in fifth, while the Jaguars are in first.
Highland took down Albuquerque 62-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
