Baseball Recap: Doherty Has No Trouble Against Pueblo West

Doherty had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Pueblo West on Tuesday. The Spartans blew past the Cyclones 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Cooper Settle and Aharon Enriquez did most of the damage at the plate: Settle got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Enriquez went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Enriquez a new career-high. Brody Noll was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Doherty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo West only posted an OBP of .200.

The victory got Doherty back to even at 8-8. As for Pueblo West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Doherty will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cyclones: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
