After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plateau Valley, the Vail Christian Saints were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They strolled past Custer County with points to spare, taking the game 54-40. This was payback for Vail Christian, who suffered a 85-46 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Vail Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Neumann out in front who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Neumann, who scored 12 points.
Custer County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grant Rusk, who scored 17 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rusk has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Levi Caricner, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Vail Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Custer County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Vail Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hayden focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Saturday. As for Custer County, they will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 6:30 a.m. on Friday.
