Colusa is 7-1 against Live Oak since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Colusa RedHawks will head out on the road to face off against the Live Oak Lions at 7:30 p.m. Colusa will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Friday, Colusa got themselves on the board against Durham, but Durham never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 40-0 victory over the Trojans at home. The result was nothing new for Colusa, who have now won five games by 34 points or more so far this season.
Adan Travis was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Isaiah Travis was in the mix too, providing Colusa with two touchdowns.
Colusa's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Leading the way was Travis and his four sacks.
Meanwhile, Live Oak suffered a rough 27-7 defeat at the hands of Pierce on Friday. Live Oak has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Colusa's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Willows and 1-5 Durham (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 25.6% over those games). As for Live Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Colusa has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 154.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Live Oak struggles in that department as they've been even better at 185.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Colusa against Live Oak when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 38-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colusa since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
