The Albany Lions are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Collinsville Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on November 30th. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Albany: 6.9, Collinsville: 14.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Albany had no problem doing just that on Friday. They secured a 19-14 W over the Hornets. Given Albany's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Muenster is ranked 425th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Albany's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adam Hill, who rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown. Hill is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Cason Fairchild was in the mix as well, providing Albany with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Collinsville waltzed into Friday's contest with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They claimed a resounding 50-12 win over Roscoe on the road. The result was nothing new for Collinsville, who have now won 12 matches by 23 points or more so far this season.
Collinsville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Jenkins, who threw for 356 yards and five touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Scott, who picked up 154 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Albany to 13-0 and Muenster to 8-5.
Everything came up roses for Albany against Collinsville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 66-34 win. Will Albany repeat their success, or does Collinsville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
