Baseball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central and Jay squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Central had to settle for second. They came up short against the Royals, falling 13-6. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brock Schmidt was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Central: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Jay, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jay, they will square off against Holmes County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Royals' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
