The Mosley Dolphins will head out to challenge the Vernon Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mosley has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mosley took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Marianna, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Dolphins had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 12-11 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dolphins have posted since April 23, 2025.
Maycee Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off six hits. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Kinlee Carter was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Grewe, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run.
Mosley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marianna struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Vernon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rutherford on Monday. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 23-1 victory. That 22-run margin sets a new team best for the Yellowjackets this season.
Like Mosley, Vernon also got a great game from a two-way player: Juliana Brizzolara. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brizzolara was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Vernon got a massive performance out of Cheyenne Wilson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Wilson a new career-high. Emma Hall was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
The win snapped Vernon's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record. As for Mosley, their record is now 3-7.
Mosley got the 'W' when the teams last played back in February of 2016 against Vernon by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Dolphins repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
