Rio Rico got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Angelina Whelan out in front who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Whelan is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Debanny Cota, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Sahuarita lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Camila Villalobos, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Karol Ortiz was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.
Rio Rico has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Sahuarita, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.
Rio Rico will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mica Mountain at 6:00 p.m. Mica Mountain is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Sahuarita, they will take on Walden Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Walden Grove comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
