4A Oregon West recap November 5, 2013
Central took down Junction City 64-27 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ben Finnegan threw for 227 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 27 yards in the win.
The Panthers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,187 from 4,638. The improvement was largely due to a 64-27 victory over the Tigers last week.
Central's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Wesley Riddell contributed 149 yards. Aaron Hobgood helped Central's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 34 yards.
He was 11-15 with 1 interception.
Madison Stepp was a key player and the best on defense this week as Shane Hedrick's team bested Junction City. The 6-foot-2 sophomore racked up 1 sack.
Riddell was the best running back in 4A Oregon West this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 149 yards as the Panthers defeated the Tigers. Teammate Tell Cruickshank added to the ground attack by rushing for 87 yards.
On the heels of Finnegan and Riddell, Central has had great success on offense. Finnegan leads the league in passing with 1,692 yards, while Riddell has rushed for 1,162 yards this season. Newport's Luke Richcreek leads the league in receiving yards with 537 on 24 catches.
The Panthers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 64 points on Junction City. Finnegan ran for 27 yards during the win.
