Windsor Charter Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Dawson School with a sharp 60-37 victory on Wednesday.
Windsor Charter Academy relied on the efforts of Andrew Schams, who scored 17 points along with 4 steals, and Kellen Ball, who scored 21 points along with 3 steals. Brayden Cole was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Liberty Common couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 45-30 bruising from Heritage Christian on Wednesday.
Despite their loss, Liberty Common saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Max Frevert, who scored 9 points along with 13 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Alex Good, who scored 6 points.
Windsor Charter Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Liberty Common, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Windsor Charter Academy strolled past Liberty Common in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 56-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Windsor Charter Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
