The Hillcrest Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Monday with ease, bagging a 49-21 win over Hale County. Given Hillcrest's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Hale County is ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hale County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kha?liyah Harris, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Kynaja Marshall, who scored five points.
Hillcrest's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Hale County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
Hillcrest will take on Hartselle in a holiday battle at TBD on Monday at. Hale County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Central at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
