After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Holy Cross, the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top against Wolcott by a score of 51-42. For Waterbury Career Academy, this counts as revenge for the 59-52 loss Wolcott walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2017.
Waterbury Career Academy can attribute much of their success to Janele Lawrence, who scored 11 points. Malahzia Weaver was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Waterbury Career Academy pushed their record up to 7-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Wolcott, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-7 record last season and are now at 2-9.
Waterbury Career Academy will head out on the road to square off against Woodland Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Woodland Regional is ranked 50th, while Waterbury Career Academy is ranked 67th). As for Wolcott, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
