The Campolindo Cougars can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Alhambra with a sharp 52-32 win. Given Campolindo's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Alhambra is ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Campolindo to victory were Dylan Mansour and Tim Smith. Mansour scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Smith scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season.
Alhambra's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Samuel Gillaspy, who scored 12 points along with two steals, and Geo Alber who scored ten points along with three blocks.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Campolindo, bringing their record for this year to 18-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Alhambra, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Campolindo will face off against Miramonte at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Miramonte's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Alhambra, they will head out on the road to face off against Las Lomas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Las Lomas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
