Benjamin scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 77-72 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tradition Prep Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 536th, while the Pirates are ranked 188th).

Despite the loss, Benjamin still got an impressive performance from Drew Buchanan, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Buchanan a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Luke Rubin, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points.

Syncere Cannon was a one-man wrecking crew for Tradition Prep as he went 13 of 23 on his way to 33 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Cannon is becoming a predictor of Tradition Prep's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 5-2 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Johnson, who went 9 of 21 on his way to 27 points.

Benjamin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Tradition Prep, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

Benjamin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-53 loss against Calusa Prep on the 30th. As for Tradition Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 72-69 win against Cardinal Newman on the 30th.
