MAIS AA District 3 recap October 22, 2013
River Oaks took down Prairie View Academy 43-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brendan MacGregor threw for 84 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 20 yards in the win.
The Mustangs led MAIS AA District 3 in scoring this week after putting up 43 points on the Spartans. MacGregor ran for 20 yards during the win.
Arthur Jones had a great week catching the football as Glenbrook beat Riverfield Academy. He caught 15 passes for 216 yards.
Regan Edwards threw for 412 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 28-44 with 0 interceptions.
Jacob Griggs was the best running back in the league this week. In 6 carries, he ran for 65 yards as River Oaks topped the Raiders. Garrett Morgan also contributed to the rushing game with 58 yards on the ground.
Glenbrook's Edwards and Jones have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Edwards has thrown for 2,919 yards this season, while Jones has 53 catches for 949 yards. Robert Hannah's team's Drake Porter leads the league in rushing yards with 704.
Greg Tibbitt's team's Jones is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 51 receiving yards against Prairie View Academy to hit that benchmark. So far this year, he has acheived 53 catches for 949 yards.
At the moment, the Mustangs are in third, while Riverfield Academy is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when River Oaks takes on the Raiders. The Mustangs have allowed 145 points this season, while Riverfield Academy has given up 116. River Oaks allowed 0 points last week as it bested the Spartans.
The Apaches made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,324 from 8,835. The advance stemmed from a 28-20 victory over the Raiders last week.
