The Morgan Township Cherokees will head out on the road to challenge the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Morgan Township is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Morgan Township had taken Kouts down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Cherokees fell 5-1 to the Mustangs & Fillies.
Morgan Township saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Spagna, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Jett Gheaja also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tippecanoe Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against La Lumiere on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Vikings not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024 (when they won 12-1).
Tristyn Ragon looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Weston Brown was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Paxton, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Tippecanoe Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Tippecanoe Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Morgan Township, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Morgan Township has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tippecanoe Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
